Our stunning, award-winning care home in Portobello, Edinburgh, is one of the top 20 care homes in Scotland.
The dedicated team at Lauder Lodge delivers a full range of personalised care services for older people, ranging from the very best in nursing and residential care, to short term respite care and specialist care for people living with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia.

Lauder Lodge only opened its doors in 2017, so we were delighted to be named in the carehome.co.uk Top 20 Care Home Awards in 2019. These awards highlight the most recommended care homes across the UK. Lauder Lodge was named one of the best in Scotland.

Providing residents with superb food and a high quality dining experience is something the Lauder Lodge team is very passionate about. Our Head Chef, Graham Watson, has many years' experience in the hotel and leisure industry and, since joining us, has been collecting the awards:

In 2018 he won Chef of the Year at the Care UK RCS Stars Awards.
In 2019 he took home the certificate for 'Highly Commended Dessert' at the National Association of Care Catering Awards.
He has also reached the finals of the 2019 National Care Awards in the Care Chef category.

Manager's quote

Absolutely everything about your loved one’s care at Lauder Lodge is personalised to their exact needs, interests and preferences - no two residents receive the same care because we understand that everyone is different. Our team will get to know your loved one to learn about their likes and dislikes and how they like to fill their day. We learn about their life story and the people and things that are important to them before creating care plans, menus and activities entirely tailored to them.

An old family friend of ours moved in to Lauder Lodge when living alone was no longer possible. We cannot believe the difference it has made to her! Good food, good company, comfortable surroundings and great care have hugely enhanced her daily living. The variety of activities on offer mean she is never bored but if she wants some peace and quiet there are lovely spaces she can retire to. We are always made very welcome when we visit and enjoy using the beautiful café on the top floor which not only has stunning views but always has a supply of amazing cakes!!!

My aunt recently joined Lauder Lodge and i have to say everything has been great. We were talked through all the available options to us when shown around the home and all the staff were great. My aunt does more now than she ever did at home on her own and i can only praise the staff for the care they show her. To our family this is a wonderful home and we cannot recommend enough.

I wouldnt even give 1 star to this place. The amount of bullying that is going between staff in within the place that public people cannot see is beyond disgrace and management do nothing about it but just watch! I wouldnt even put my beloved in this care home! There are much better care homes out there than this one.

Would not recommend Care UK to anyone. Management tells you everything you want to hear. When your loved ones are in they do not get the care and attention they need. Management defend staff before listening to serious concerns family raise. Everything was amazing for first 3 months of our mums stay. When care home starting filling up, there was cut backs with food choices, Residents being taken out on outings, or just a walk. The experiences our family lived at Lauder Lodge was a living nightmare.
