The Garden House is a modern, purpose built unit located in Letham Park Care Home which is situated the Trinity area of Edinburgh. The Garden House accepts both privately funded residents and those sponsored by their local authority. Accommodation The Garden House provides accommodation for 50 residents. All rooms are for single occupancy and have en-suite facilities. The rooms are fully furnished however we encourage residents to personalise their rooms as they like, as far as is possible, to make their room feel like ‘home’. The home has several small lounges for communal use. There are two lovely conservatories and a private outside garden area for residents’ enjoyment. Nursing & Medical Care Our registered nurses and fully trained care staff provide 24 hour nursing and general care. In addition, a full range of healthcare services can be accessed via the local GP (who visits regularly) such as dental care or vision care. We aim to provide care that places your needs at the centre of your care plan. This means that your plan will be regularly updated. You will be asked to contribute to your care plan so we can best match your care to your needs. Catering & Services Good food is at the heart of the care we provide. Our cook will meet with you on your arrival to discuss your personal likes and dislikes. Meals and home baking are prepared in our kitchen by our own cooks. Menus are rotated and refreshed regularly. All menus (which include a vegetarian option) are designed to ensure that our residents receive a nutritious, well-balanced diet which meets their individual needs. The in-house laundry deals with all personal clothes. Activities are planned in conjunction with residents and consequently a diverse range of activities are provided. The home has access to a mini-bus which is used regularly to take residents on trips into the community. Various other extra services are available as required such as hairdressing, podiatry and newspapers.

Our nursing home is a purpose-built care home in Edinburgh, near Craigcrook Castle. It provides 24-hour nursing care, in addition to dementia care, for older people. Public transport links are good and there are shops nearby. The home is set in well-maintained landscaped gardens and there is a dedicated Memory Lane Community for people living with dementia. The Care Inspectorate is the independent regulator for the care sector in Scotland. On their most recent inspection visit in March 2017 they rated Strachan House 'Excellent' for care and support. It is rated ‘Very Good’ in all other categories. They said, ‘Strachan House Care Home provides excellent standards of care and support in an attractive, comfortable and safe environment,’ ; ‘Care and support was well organised, person centred with continuity provided by a team of motivated staff who knew the residents and their relatives/carers well,’ ; ‘Staff from all departments worked well together to given an excellent provision of meaningful activities, which included both group and one to one activities, and recognised the importance of physical activity. This helped to support residents to maximise their mental and physical wellbeing,’ and: ‘Management and leadership at the service were very effective. A comprehensive range of quality assurance systems monitored all aspects of service provision.’ At Strachan House we pride ourselves on the quality of the care we provide, the standards of hospitality on offer and the wide range of activities and social contacts we promote.
