It is really warming to see my mum so happy, the staff are amazing and a very well run establishment. I had alot of worries and doubt about my mum going into a care home, as it is a hard decision to make,. But I'm really glad this was my choice. The staff give 100% and the elderly are their first concern. Love the place. However don't but or send in decent clothes, they are list without names attached to them, out if two suit cases full of clothes and alit of brand new clothes, mum only has 2 dresses left, and the knickers she is wearing lately are not hers!!!! I was not told to label clothes and have now list alot of money due to it, i, went in to visit mum the other day and she had trousers on that were 4 sizes to bug and we're falling down, which in itself is a safety issue dye to mum falling alit, the more I see the less I like, it is not down to management that the establishment is run well, it's down to the staffing, they could probably run it alone

I wish to write to congratulate the owners/ trustees of Rochester Care Home on their achievement in producing a care home with an environment that deserves an Award for Excellence and that should 'set an example' to all other residential homes in the area. I have recently visited many care homes in the Medway area and have been appalled at the lack of effort made by the managers to improve the surroundings. It was refreshing to enter Rochester and find welcoming and elegant surroundings which meet my expectations as to what a care home should be - a luxury hotel 'feel' had been accomplished and it was spotlessly clean. Staff were incredibly smart in their appearance, efficient and constantly talking to and attending to residents. The staff appeared very happy in their work and continually had an 'upbeat' manner which must be very difficult to sustain, surrounded by sombre residents. The walls were lined with paintings/pictures instead of 'scrappy' posters. This is just one example of how improvements can be made that make an exceptional difference at probably little cost, but require a manager that will 'go the extra mile' and take the time, thought and effort. Finally, I was relieved to find a care home where each resident was treated as a personal friend, even those residents being admitted that had not yet been introduced, and find fabulous support given to the families at this difficult time.

It was our good fortune that Agincare was successful in taking over the management of Robert Bean Lodge (Rochester Care Home). Yes there have been changes and some not so popular as others, however, I believe there is not a better care home in the Medway Towns.
