The Orchards is a modern, purpose-built care home in the historic city of Ely, offering high quality residential, dementia, and respite care. The home combines comfort, community, and person-centred support in a bright and welcoming environment.
As part of Greensleeves Care, a trusted UK care charity, The Orchards puts people before profit. Residents benefit from award-winning care and the reassurance of the Home for Life promise, meaning no one is ever asked to leave if their personal funds run out. Longer trial stays are also available to help make the move into care as smooth as possible.
Located beside a primary school and within a new residential area, The Orchards is an active part of the local community. Its Cambridgeshire setting offers easy access to Ely’s attractions, including the cathedral, cafés, and the Ely Beet Social Club. The home features 66 fully furnished bedrooms, each with an ensuite wet room. Residents are encouraged to personalise their rooms with photos, ornaments, and small pieces of furniture to make them feel familiar and comforting. There is also a hair and beauty salon and a small shop on site.
Wellbeing is central to life at The Orchards, with daily activities and social events tailored to individual interests. Landscaped gardens, a sky bar, tearoom, and cinema provide a variety of spaces for relaxation and connection. Mealtimes are an important part of the day, with in-house chefs preparing delicious, nutritious meals to suit every taste and dietary need. During the warmer months, residents can enjoy al fresco dining on the patio.
The experienced, dementia-friendly care team is supported by the Family Liaison Manager, who provides guidance and a warm welcome to residents and their loved ones. Families are encouraged to contact The Orchards for friendly advice or to arrange a visit.
From the manager
“I’ve been in care for over 20 years, supporting families like yours every day. At Greensleeves Care, we know families are making big decisions about their loved ones and we’re here to help you feel confident in those choices. One of the ways we give families peace of mind is through our Home for Life Commitment: a resident will never be asked to leave if personal funds run out. Because our focus, as a charity, is always on people, not pockets. We make the move into care flexible, with options such as a no-obligation trial, to experience life here before making a longer-term commitment. Our approach to care is rooted in warmth and understanding, delivered by a skilled and compassionate team who are here to support you and your loved one feel good about care, every step of the way. Give us a call today to talk through your needs or to arrange a visit, we’d be delighted to show you around. ”
