The team at Smyth Lodge in Sidcup delivers the best in residential, nursing and dementia care on a short-term and permanent basis. All aspects of residents' care are fully personalised to their needs, preferences and wishes.

This purpose-built home offers a luxury lifestyle with the latest facilities, including a café, cinema room, and a hair and beauty salon. Each bedroom has en-suite facilities, is beautifully furnished and has a nurse call system and TV.

Residents are supported to live fulfilling lives, with daily group and one-to-one activities tailored to their interests. The Smyth Lodge lifestyle team also organises outings and visits from entertainers, and the chef-led catering team serves a choice of restaurant-quality food.

“I’m a qualified general nurse and I’ve worked in nursing since the 1980s. I worked in emergency nursing for 20 years before moving into social care, first managing a small home and then managing larger homes. Before joining the Smyth Lodge team I was managing a 120-bed home. I feel strongly that I and my team are here to help residents to live their best life. It’s important to see them as a holistic person. They’re a husband or wife, brother or sister, a mum or dad or a best friend. There’s a lot we can learn from them. I love hearing residents and colleagues laughing together. Humour is so important. I enjoy engaging with my team, with the people we care for and with their loved ones. I enjoy combining my nursing skills with being a leader. I believe that being a nurse – and a home manager – is an honour.”
