From the manager
“Hi, I’m Isobel, the Home Manager here at Timken Grange. To describe myself, I would say I’m passionate about care, personable and always happy to help. I am very family orientated having grown up in a large family environment. I have been married to my wonderful partner for 20 years and have three children, who along with my career, are my biggest accomplishment. In my spare time, I love to read crime fiction or be outdoors walking with my family surrounded by nature. Growing up, I always knew I would be a nurse. My parents have a picture of me nursing dolls when I was 3 years old, in a uniform made for me by my grandmother. My first job, however, was working on an indoor market stall in Ashton Under Lyne selling cold meats and tripe on a Saturday. I got £12 a day and bought a pair of shoes with my first wage which I still have! I then went on to work for the NHS in Prestwich and Manchester Royal Infirmary. After marrying, my husband and I decided to move to Cardiff where I first experienced care homes. I have since worked for Bupa, Four Seasons, Sanctuary Care and Southern Cross. As the Home Manager, I am in charge of the quality of care we deliver. I love that I can make changes to improve the lives of residents and relatives in the knowledge that the residents are safe and happy. I think my team would describe me as approachable, fair and no nonsense. I take great pride in my team, who work hard to make sure we are giving our residents care, enjoyment and support all day every day! The door is always open, so if you have any questions about our home please feel free to come and take a tour or stop by for a coffee and a chat. ”
