Manor Lodge is a modern and welcoming purpose-built care home in Chelmsford that delivers permanent and respite nursing, residential and dementia care. We were delighted to be rated ‘outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission in November 2018.

In 2019 we were thrilled to win Best Single Care Home in a Group at the Care Home Awards. We have also reached the finals of the 2019 National Care Awards in the Dignity and Respect Care Home of the Year category. Judges highlighted how colleagues proactively look for ways to enhance each day for individual residents, and for the way we embrace positive risk-taking to enable residents to live a more meaningful life.

When a new resident joins us, we get to know them extremely well so that we can create care and lifestyle plans that are personalised to their needs, wishes and preferences. Just one example of our commitment to residents’ quality of life is the way we have a full-time physiotherapist on our team, as well as an in-house physiotherapy gym. Through a combination of nursing care and support from Ria, our physiotherapist, we have helped to transform many residents’ lives – enabling them to regain their mobility and independence.

We are passionate about supporting residents to enjoy meaningful activities and experiences every day – what we call meaningful lifestyles. Some residents find purpose from helping around the home, folding laundry or helping in the garden. Others enjoy the many group and one-to-one activities and outings that we organise.

Manor Lodge also has some fantastic facilities for residents to use whenever they wish, from a café to a cinema, a library to an activity room, a hair salon and a little shop.

From the manager

“I joined Care UK and Manor Lodge 5 years ago as the Deputy Manager, where I joined because of Care UK’s incredible values which align with my person values. I love leading my team to work cohesively and help develop them to deliver outstanding and person-centred care. Care UK has an excellent reputation nationwide, and I love the way they promote personal and professional growth of the colleagues. Since being with Care UK one of my biggest achievements Is receiving a Deputy Manager of the year award for all my hard work. As a Home manager, I believe it’s important to be honest, have integrity, empathy and being able to self-reflect and use every opportunity to learn, improve and develop. It’s also important to have great communication and listening skills and be a team player. My favourite part of my working day is getting to chat to the residents, relatives, and colleagues; it’s great to see how well colleagues are doing and get great feedback of our home. In my free time I enjoy being a mum and looking after my car and dog. I love to cook for my family and friends, watch my son play football on the weekend and spend time with my family. I love visiting all of my family back in Poland and I’d never say no to a cheesy rom com.”
