Our nursing home is a purpose-built care home in Edinburgh, near Craigcrook Castle. It provides 24-hour nursing care, in addition to dementia care, for older people. Public transport links are good and there are shops nearby. The home is set in well-maintained landscaped gardens and there is a dedicated Memory Lane Community for people living with dementia.
The Care Inspectorate is the independent regulator for the care sector in Scotland. On their most recent inspection visit in March 2017 they rated Strachan House 'Excellent' for care and support. It is rated ‘Very Good’ in all other categories. They said, ‘Strachan House Care Home provides excellent standards of care and support in an attractive, comfortable and safe environment,’ ; ‘Care and support was well organised, person centred with continuity provided by a team of motivated staff who knew the residents and their relatives/carers well,’ ; ‘Staff from all departments worked well together to given an excellent provision of meaningful activities, which included both group and one to one activities, and recognised the importance of physical activity. This helped to support residents to maximise their mental and physical wellbeing,’ and: ‘Management and leadership at the service were very effective. A comprehensive range of quality assurance systems monitored all aspects of service provision.’

At Strachan House we pride ourselves on the quality of the care we provide, the standards of hospitality on offer and the wide range of activities and social contacts we promote.
